Tokenization and Real-World Assets

Understand tokenized funds, bonds, deposits, commodities, and property through legal claims, custody, settlement, and liquidity.

The token is only the visible layer

A tokenized asset depends on legal rights, issuers, custodians, payment instruments, valuation, and redemption. The blockchain can improve transfer and reconciliation without replacing those underlying institutions.

Programmable settlement

Shared ledgers and smart contracts can coordinate delivery, payment, compliance, and collateral. The benefit is strongest when the legal record and technical record agree and when the payment leg is as reliable as the asset leg.

Liquidity is not automatic

A token can be transferable and still have a thin market. Permissioned investor groups, fragmented chains, slow underlying assets, and limited redemption can restrict liquidity.

Evaluation framework

Read the governing documents, map the issuer and custodian, verify redemption, and examine admin keys and bridge exposure. Compare the tokenized structure with the conventional product it claims to improve.
